08 - 3 large egg whites, room temperature

10 - ¼ teaspoon salt
11 - ½ cup granulated sugar

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch round baking dish.
02 - In a large bowl, gently mix diced pears, cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla extract, and cornstarch until fruit is evenly coated.
03 - Transfer fruit mixture to prepared dish and spread evenly. Bake for 20 minutes until fruit softens and releases juice. Remove from oven.
04 - Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt in a clean, dry bowl until soft peaks form.
05 - While continuing to beat on high speed, gradually add sugar one tablespoon at a time until stiff, glossy peaks form.
06 - Spoon or pipe meringue over hot fruit, shaping peaks to create a snowy effect.
07 - Return dish to oven and bake an additional 15 minutes until meringue is lightly golden.
08 - Allow to cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
